Why?

Our Relief Society President asked me to write a brief account of why our family moved to Lubbock. I thought I would share it on the blog as a way of remembering and reminiscing in future years. 

"The primary purpose of coming to Lubbock was to attend medical school at Texas Tech.  When           Brian first came to Lubbock to interview for a spot in the medical school, there was nothing special that stood out about the scenery. In fact, he described it as "flat, brown, and hot." But he was impressed with how new and clean the medical school was.  After a 6 month span of applications, traveling, and interviews it really came down to two medical schools; Texas Tech and Tufts (Boston).  Boston was rich in history, had a prestigious medical school and was on the east coast, which would provide a completely new way of living for our family. For some reason, both Brian and I always felt that Lubbock was where we were going to, and supposed to, end up.

After a couple of months of thought and prayer, we decided that the Lord wanted us to go to Texas Tech.  As we moved to Texas in July to set-up our new home, we soon realized that there is a lot more to this South Plains city than the dust and tumbleweeds.  We found that this a religious community with some of the most kind and warm people we've met.  As we met with Bishop Cluff for the first time, he shared with us the Vision of the Vines and immediately we knew that our path to Lubbock had been guided by the Lord. We are so grateful to be a part of this ward and this community and hope to be an influence in bringing  others to the church here, in whatever branch of the vine that the Lord sees fit.  Our journey to coming to  Lubbock is a really a simple story, but we know it will have an impact on us forever."
