The Zoo

Saturday, August 4, 2012

As mentioned earlier, we stopped by the zoo while we were in Dallas for the weekend. It was a definite highlight. Ava loved seeing all the animals and we loved watching her mind process it all. That is something I am loving about this stage with Ava. She is so curious and she sometimes just sits in silence trying to take everything in. I feel like I do that all the time too; catch myself just in awe of her,  watching her grow and trying to remember every little detail. That girl is growing up way too fast.

We started the day off early. We were there when the zoo opened because we knew it would heat up, fast. It did. Ava was a trooper the whole time though. Leading the pack, pointing us in the right direction, with her leg. This for example, is one of those little things I hope to never forget about my little bug. She always has one leg sticking out when riding in the stroller. That dainty little thing. Instead of lifting the pinkie when she drinks, she raises a foot as she rides.

First stop: the flamingos. Speaking of dainty, these birds define that word to a tee. Ava loved looking at them, especially with her daddy.
 Ava loved petting the pony!

Off to see the African Safari animals! We were excited to see this part of the zoo because Uncle Chase is serving in South Africa on his mission and writes all about the animals he sees. (we've been mentioning "Uncle Chase" to Ava quite a bit, getting her ready to meet him soon. Only one more month!)

Brian and his old roommate, Reed. So good to see him again!

We dubbed the day a success, and headed off to P.F. Chang's (another one of our favorites that Lubbock is missing) before heading home.

We will be back, I'm sure of it.

0 little notes:
